KC9AMX'S INFORMATION
Hello!
Please let me introduce myself. I am John Armata, Sr., KC9AMX.
I am the Emergency Coordinator for Amateur (Ham) Radio Operations for the counties of Iron and Vilas in Northern Wisconsin. As coordinator, I have a great group of individuals who assist me in devoting whatever time they can allow to provide Emergency Communications in times of need. Some examples are reporting to the National Weather Service in SKYWARN Spotting, Assisting Emergency Management Directors in disaster response, assisting local public agencies (police, fire, ems), providing communications for special events (marathons, races), Digital Communication support, wireless video, commonly called ATV (Amateur TV). This is to name just a few things we do for you.
The state of Wisconsin ARES/RACES organization has approximately 1400 trained communicators. Check out our homepage at: www.wi-aresraces.org If you are interested in becoming a ham, please feel free to contact me, or your local Emergency Management Director who will assist you in contacting the proper people to get you started. ? Already a ham? Want to help provide communications when no one else can? Let's get in touch!
